Born in the Midwest, the oldest of five girls, Katherine Bristor was raised in a family where creativity was strictly discouraged. After a move to New York City, law school, and a successful career as a tax partner with an elite US law firm, she has devoted herself full time to photography — an interest sparked over a series of trips to Africa, Greenland, Antarctica and remote areas of the United States, and enriched and undergirded by formal technical training. The unifying theme of my work is the desire to find beauty in things. Unexpected things. Surprising things. Working on photography is almost an obsession. I seek to share my sense of wonder at the hidden beauty available in the least expected places. I love being surprised by what comes out of my camera.
